This mascara is NOT messing around.

I have heard SO much about Japanese mascaras. While I was in Asia I was on a mission to find Fairydrops Scandal Queen Waterproof Mascara.  I went “missing” more than a few times in random cities when I would leave everyone and duck into a drugstore in search of the perfect mascara.
Sadly, I didn’t find Fairydrops. But, I did see these two mascaras everywhere I went. I purchased them with the hope that they’d be life changing, and they’re definitely some of the most unique and intense mascaras I’ve used.

A few notes:
Mascara from Asia is different from Western mascara. That’s because the majority of the population in Asia has short eyelashes that grow straight or down instead of up and out. Mascara from Asia has to be extra effective and needs to provide length and volume like you’ve never seen before.
Admittedly… I was suckered into these mascaras by the “#1 Cosme” sticker on the packaging. Obviously, at the time I had no idea what Cosme meant, but it gave me some sense of security. These mascaras range between $10-$16 so not exactly cheap…
I now know that “Cosme” is Asia’s top cosmetics review site. I am obsessed with the website, and although they don’t ship to the US… it is cool to see a space dedicated to ranking Asian beauty products.

Isehan  Heroine Make Mascaras

Purple Packaging: Volume & Curl (straight wand gets wider towards the bottom, clumpy)

Pink Packaging: Long & Curl  (curved wand with more definition, and less clumpy)

Some of my biggest takeaways about this mascara:

  • Jet Black is an understatement. This is a very pigmented black mascara.  I can definitely say that I’ve never used a more “true black” mascara before.
  • The formula itself is pretty wet, it goes on a lot wetter than a lot of mascaras I’ve used in the past.
  • Lastly and maybe most importantly- they’re not messing around when they say SUPER WATERPROOF. This does not budge. For me, this is both an amazing thing, and also kind of a pain. I have a habit of rubbing my eyes and this mascara can handle that without giving me raccoon eyes. However, taking this off at the end of the day is a feat. I can usually count on my Boscia makeup remover to get makeup off, but that doesn’t cut it with Heroine Make Mascara.
  • As a point of reference- my two most used mascaras right now are Lancome Hypnose Drama and Benefit Roller Lash.

If you’re in the market for a heavy duty blacker than black mascara that will not budge or smear… you’re gonna want to try the Heroine Make range!

Have a great weekend!
